Facial Rejuvenation: Exploring Non-Surgical Options

When it comes to facial rejuvenation, many people think that going under the knife is the only way to turn back the clock. The field of aesthetic medicine is here to put that thinking to rest because the range of non-surgical options has evolved. Now, stunning results are possible with minimal downtime and discomfort.

One of the most well-known non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments is Botox. This FDA-approved injectable contains a purified form of the botulinum toxin that can temporarily relax the muscles responsible for wrinkles and fine lines. By targeting areas like crow’s feet, forehead lines and frown lines, Botox can smooth out skin, giving you a more youthful appearance.

Like Botox, Dysport is a neuromodulator that works by relaxing wrinkle-causing muscles. Dysport does not last as long as Botox, but you are likely to see results faster due to the protein it utilizes. Dysport also disperses more widely than Botox, making it more useful for the treatment of larger areas.

Dermal fillers are another non-surgical option for freshening the face and turning back signs of aging. As we age, collagen and hyaluronic acid are lost in the skin, leading to sagging skin, wrinkles and dullness. Dermal fillers can replenish lost volume, smooth out lines and enhance facial contours. Dermal fillers can be used in a variety of ways too, from plumping lips, filling in hollow cheeks or even rejuvenating aging hands. Dermal fillers are made of biocompatible materials so there is little downtime. Dermal fillers can last up to a year.

Non-surgical facelifts combine the benefits of injectables, like Botox, with the enhancing properties of dermal fillers to achieve results similar to those of a facelift without going under the knife. Non-surgical facelifts are best for those with moderate signs of aging including wrinkles, volume loss and sagging. Non-surgical facelift results are long-lasting, but not permanent, so maintenance injections will be necessary to maintain your rejuvenated appearance.

Before undergoing a non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment, it’s important to find a board-certified aesthetic provider to work with. They can assess your face, discuss your goals and create a personalized treatment plan to achieve your desired results.
